Project Details – NCI Scope of Work

Installation of a Solar Photo-Voltaic (PV) System on the main building at the existing facility located at the Marine Forces Reserves (MARFORRES) site in Lynchburg, Virginia. The intent of this action is to fulfill the requirements of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2007 and Executive Order 13423 regarding renewable energy requirements (25% renewable by 2025).

The Photo-Voltaic System was designed with evaluations of the site, needs of the user, and budget limitations. The project consisted of an installation of a 145 kW PV system. A suitable location for the PV array was determined by shading patterns and building orientation. The PV panel installed on metal panel canopy, at the Vehicle maintenance wing, with a “trapezoidal” profile was fastened directly to the sheet metal. The PV panel installed on low sloped roof was attached to a molded polyethylene base. The layout of PV panels was designed around building fixtures and obstructions.
